Welcome to my shop
My shop is located in Innisfail, Alberta, right next to our house . Until June 2018 I was in a rented shop in Springbrook Alberta, but decided to close it and move back home where I started this business. It had remained a useful shop but set up mostly for furniture. Not so good for case work.
The decision to do this was influenced by various factors, and though it was another big change, it was a very good decision. My home shop is 20 feet wide x 40 feet long x 12 feet high, which required a complete rework for workflow layout. So my wife, Sandi and I, as well as some help from friends, spent the winter months of 2018 gutting the space and reorganizing. It has lots of light, allows much more versatility with most of the machinery on mobile bases. A good space with a machine area and a bench area. Loving it.
On any given day, a lot of work goes on in the machine area of my shop. Many spinning blades and whirling motors. But since I work alone, generally only one at a time.
I am doing more handwork than I did at the other shop. The handwork is what I loved most about woodworking and using a hand plane or a chisel instead of a machine provides so much more quiet pleasure.
